It is estimated that ancient people across the globe have been surfing on wooden boards since the dawn of civilization including the people from Hawaii, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Australia, Tahiti, America, Indonesia, Africa, Malaysia, Samoa, and other ancient cultures.

The origins of surfing and bodyboarding can be found here in its purest form, sliding on waves on boards made from pieces of wood. Some surf crafts were homemade from the knowledge of their ancestors, as religious rituals, or just as random fun recreation.
